This device measures impedance by bioelectrical impedance analysis method and provides lots of information using measured impedance and inputted personal data (height, age, gender, weight). It shows body composition of mass of body fat, lean body mass, soft lean mass, total body water, protein mass, mineral mass, etc. and information to body mass index, percent body fat, basal metabolic rate, waist to hip ratio, age matched of body, body type, segmental analysis, target to control, etc.
BIA method is the way to analyze body composition by measuring the resistance generated from human body when harmless alternating current flows through the body. This method assumes that whole body or segmental measuring parts are approximately cylindrical and have uniform cross section. The resistance of human body differs according to the ratio of two body components, insulator such as fat and conductor such as lean body mass. These two electrical characteristics come from the difference in hydration and electrolytes level in the tissues.
